"Diagast" machine in the red cell serology uses erythrocyte magnetizing microplate technology. Diagast and Tecan machines have fully automatic liquid handling systems, which reduce the risk of manual errors by automatic dispensing samples and reagents. We have a policy to use sensitive rapid antigen test for identification of malaria parasites though simple, cheap and insensitive slide test is allowed by the law. Blast freezers in component allow uniform freezing of plasma bags within 30 minutes using contact freezing technology which helps us in supplying best quality FFP and Cryoprecipitate to patients.
Our cell separators and component extractors efficiently remove leikocytes from paltelets and red cell concentrate. Transfusion of leukoreduced products increases the blood safety by prventing adverse reactions.
Our products undergo sterility testing using fully automatic BacY/Alert system for blood culture.thus we ensure that patients will not have septicemia after transfusion.
For screening university students for beta thalassemia and sickle cell trait we use high performance liquid chromatology (HPLC) to establish correct diagnosis. We also have molecular biology laboratory to identify genetic mutations typing of HLA.
Very soon SRKRC will have flow cytometer having five laser beams to analyze different markers on stem cells, lymphocytes and other body cells. We also plan to develop Liquid nitrogen facility (-196°C) required for HLA department and stem cell laboratory.this facility could be used for cryopreservation of red cell bags of the rare group donors to help patients in any part of India, having rare group.
